NBA Power Rankings: Where all 30 teams stand after the draft, free agency
27. San Antonio Spurs
Key offseason move: Drafted Victor Wembanyama
Arguably one of the bigger winners of the offseason, the San Antonio Spurs enter the 2023-24 season as one of the most intriguing teams in the Western Conference. Victor Wembanyama is going to be one of the future faces of the league and if he develops into the player that many believe he can be, the Spurs will emerge as a contender in the conference sooner rather than later. That is unlikely to happen this season.
Even though Wemby has arguably the highest ceiling of any draft prospect to ever come out, there’s going to be a process when it comes to his development. And it may not be as simple or pretty as many expect it to be. There are going to be some bumps in the road but there’s no question that the future is bright for San Antonio.
In addition to Wembanyama, the Spurs have a few more intriguing prospects such as Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson, Sidy Cissoko, and others. As far as the best young teams in the league are concerned, the Spurs certainly threw their hat in the ring.
