10. Monty Williams, Detroit Pistons

Monty Williams is as respected as any head coach in the NBA. He is a high-character individual and an excellent leader of men. Williams is a great communicator and develops young players. That’s why the Detroit Pistons recently signed him to a long-term deal.

During his first season in Phoenix, his Suns were invited to the NBA bubble in Orlando despite a 26-39 record. Williams then led the Suns to an 8-0 record while in Orlando. He had a positive impact on young Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Deandre Ayton, and Cam Johnson. Williams led the Suns to the NBA Finals the following season and a franchise-record 64 wins the year after that.

However, it seemed as if his Suns’ team quit on him in 2022. That’s telling and is an unfortunate hit on his resumé. He hasn’t won a ring yet but, you could do much worse than Monty Williams as your head coach.
