NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Ways Heat can keep Tyler Herro out of Lillard package
NBA Trade Rumors: Exploring three ways the Miami Heat could attempt to keep Tyler Herro out of the Damian Lillard trade package.
Still at an impasse, there’s no guarantee that Damian Lillard will be traded before the start of NBA Training Camps, let alone be moved to the Miami Heat. At least for now, there’s no clear indication of how this Lillard saga is going to end. But what we know is what we know. And that’s Lillard wants to be traded to the Heat, there isn’t much of a trade market outside of Miami (at this point), and Portland, up until now, has refused to engage the Heat in trade negotiations.
That could all change over the course of the next few weeks but it’s hard to imagine. One thing is pretty clear, though, and it’s that if the Heat is going to land Lillard, they’re going to need him to hold strong on his demand.
The Miami Heat needs Damian Lillard to hold steady on his trade demand
If Lillard holds the Blazers to his demand, you’d have to imagine this is something that’s going to get done at some point. As long as the Heat can meet the Blazers in the middle. Miami doesn’t have the blue-chip assets that would qualify as an ideal return for Portland, but they can put together what many objective people would call fair value.
One recent talking point that has emerged is whether it’s possible for the Heat to hammer out a deal that allows them to retain Tyler Herro. Could it be possible? Yes, but it won’t be simple. And it could take time for it to come to fruition. We explore three ways the Heat can acquire Lillard and still hold on to Herro in the process.
