NBA Rumors: There were 10 moves this offseason that didn’t quite make a ton of sense.

The 2023 NBA offseason is nearly in the books. The majority, if not all, of the big moves have been made and the rest of the offseason will focus on a few tweaks here and there while waiting for training camps to begin.

Admittedly, we could still see Damian Lillard and James Harden trades go down but those are far from guarantees at this point. With the NBA Draft and Free Agency pretty much in the books, we look back at take a deeper look at 10 of the riskiest and most questionable moves that were made this offseason.

10. Indiana Pacers going all-in on Bruce Brown

The Indiana Pacers made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason when they signed Bruce Brown to a two-year, $45 million deal. It was a clear indication that the Pacers wanted to add a player that could help them win now but, in many ways, this is probably not a team that is ready to win now. And that’s why I label this move as one of the bigger question marks from the offseason.

Additionally, are the Pacers paying Brown $20-plus million per season to come off the bench? Under the assumption that Tyrese Maxey, Bennedict Mathurin, and Buddy Hield will start at the 1-3, that leaves Brown as a super-sub. If the Pacers go on to move Hield before the start of the season, I suppose this move makes better sense.

Unless, of course, the Pacers plan to bring Mathurin off the bench again this season. Maybe there is another shoe to drop but this is a deal that could end up not being as impactful as the money attached to it. Because of that, it’s certainly a risky move for the Pacers.
