Trade deadline candidate: Robert Covington
There may not be a team that I’m more uncertain about heading into the season than the LA Clippers. I don’t know if this is a “one last dance” type of season for the team or if this core is going to be re-signed. However, I do know that there’s at least a good chance that they end up making a move or two in-season before the NBA Trade Deadline. One player that probably has a good chance of being traded by the deadline is Robert Covington.
Covington simply hasn’t fit on the team as perhaps he hoped he would. His role last season was pretty much nonexistent and I don’t see how that changes much unless LA does end up clearing up some of their depth, potentially in a deal for James Harden. Aside from that, though, Covington doesn’t fit on the team.
It would make sense for both sides to move on and considering Covington is entering the final year of his contract with the team, it could be a likely scenario that ends up playing out at the deadline. At the very least, it’s a possibility to keep an eye out for.
