Trade deadline candidate: DeMar DeRozan

There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Chicago Bulls heading into the season but short of an unexpectedly hot start to the season, there’s a growing expectation that this is a team that could end up being big sellers at the NBA Trade Deadline. If that were to happen I still firmly believe that one of the first dominos to fall will revolve around DeMar DeRozan, who is on an expiring contract.

DeRozan would still hold value on the open market and considering he’s unlikely to re-sign with the Bulls after this season, it would make sense for Chicago to at least explore the possibility of moving him at the NBA Trade Deadline. At the very least, there should be conversations about the idea. And if the Bulls do get off to a rough start and believe that a rebuild is necessary, DeRozan is the first piece that needs to be moved because of his expiring contract.

They have the luxury to be patient with the likes of Alex Caruso and Zach LaVine, but DeRozan’s value diminishes a little on the trade block with every day that passes between now and the trade deadline.
