Biggest offseason moves: Trading Jordan Poole, acquiring Chris Paul, re-signing Draymond Green. lost Bob Myers

The Golden State Warriors lost some key pieces of their organization this offseason. Let’s start at the top with Bob Myers stepping away as the general manager. That’s a move that will hurt and we may not see that completely for a few years. The loss of Jordan Poole could have long-term consequences too. But that’s another conversation for another day.

There were good things that the Warriors did this offseason too, though. They acquire Chris Paul who will be the best backup point guard in the NBA if he can remain healthy, and they re-signed Draymond Green.

There’s an argument to be made that the most important thing the Warriors did this offseason was pick a direction for the organization and run with it. Golden State is all-in on the Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond, and Andrew Wiggins core. That much has been decided. Now that they’re not trying to balance the young guys with the old ones, decisions will be a whole lot easier for them to make.

Will it work out in the long run? Who knows. But we know who the Warriors want to be. Heading into last season, even coming off an NBA title, sometimes that was difficult to understand.

Grade: B-
