Biggest offseason moves: Re-signing Jakob Poeltl, drafting Gradey Dick, possible Pascal Siakam trade coming

The Toronto Raptors. What an offseason it’s been for the team from the north. They lost Fred VanVleet to the Houston Rockets in free agency, decided to re-sign Jakob Poeltl, and drafted Grady Dick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Two of those three moves were great for the Raptors. However, there’s this one other issue that could end up shaking this team’s future – a possible trade of Pascal Siakam.

The rumors have been rumbling all offseason long revolving around a potential trade of Siakam. At least up to now, there haven’t been much traction and the Raptors continue to have a high asking price. If they aren’t careful, they could end up in the same situation they found themselves in with VanVleet.

The biggest gripe that I have about the Raptors is that they still haven’t chosen a path forward. If they’re indeed going to go with the youth movement, I’m not sure why they didn’t trade VanVleet at the NBA Trade Deadline last year (before losing him for nothing in free agency) and why they aren’t seriously discussing Siakam trade ideas.
