Biggest offseason moves: Re-signing Cam Johnson, signing Lonnie Walker

The Brooklyn Nets operated under the radar this offseason, and it was probably for the best. After a couple of hectic seasons with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the new era of Nets basketball has gotten off to a quietly good start. One of the key moves that the Nets needed to pull off this offseason included re-signing Cameron Johnson. Brooklyn accomplished that without issue as soon as free agency opened.

Additionally, the Nets also took a flier on Lonnie Walker who has shown flashes of real potential through the first few years of his career (in stints with the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers). Brooklyn is an interesting team to keep an eye on considering they have the firepower to make a big move via trade at some point. They decided that this offseason wasn’t that moment.

Overall, I’m sure the fans would’ve liked them to make a bigger move – either via free agency or through the trade market. Maybe they make a move for Tyler Herro before the start of the season? If so, that could make for an even more intriguing 2023-24 season for the Nets.
