Acquisition of Chris Paul

Chris Paul was traded to the Golden State Warriors on July 6, 2023, in exchange for guard Jordan Poole, Ryan Rollins, Patrick Baldwin JR., a top-20-protected 2030 first-round pick, and a future second-rounder. The trade was made to give the Warriors another veteran playmaker and leader to help them compete for a championship.

Chris Paul can provide that much-needed help with a bench unit that the Warriors lacked in the previous season, a floor general. Jordan Poole proved to be a “microwave scorer” than a  playmaker off the bench. Paul’s addition, as a second-fiddle to Curry, bolsters the Warriors’ bench along the likes of young talent: Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, and Moses Moody.

Paul is a proven winner and a veteran leader who can help the Warriors stay focused and motivated. However, there are some concerns relating to his fitness. The ‘Point God’ is coming off a season-ending injury with the Phoenix Suns and his health is of the utmost concern for the Warriors.

Rick Celebrini, director of sports medicine and performance for the Golden State Warriors, has a lot on his hands to ensure Paul’s injury concerns don’t affect the Warriors’ chances for the NBA championship.
