Grading the trade that would send Damian Lillard to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Time is running out for the Portland Trail Blazers. If the plan is to trade Damian Lillard before the start of the season, to possibly avoid potential distractions for Portland’s young roster, there’s going to have to be some real traction on a potential deal soon. The start of NBA Training Camps is just a little more than a month away and there doesn’t appear to be any Lillard deal imminent.
However, that could change if either Lillard is open to joining a team that isn’t the Miami Heat or if the market for Lillard catches fire over the next few weeks. One team that could theoretically make an interesting offer, at least on paper, for Lillard is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In a recent podcast, The Ringer’s Bill Simmons floated an idea in which Lillard is traded to the Wolves for Karl-Anthony Towns. To make the offer a bit sweeter, the Wolves package would have to include more than just KAT. The essence and spirit of the deal, though, does revolve around a KAT for Lilard swap.
Digging deeper into this potential deal, we grade the trade and take a closer look at what it could mean for both the Wolves and Blazers. In the end, we determine just how realistic this potential deal could be for all sides involved.
