In a couple of seasons, there’s a very real chance that the Toronto Raptors emerge as one of the best possible landing spots for prospective free agents. The Raptors have a strong young core in Scottie Barnes, OG Anunoby, and Gradey Dick. Add in whatever they end up getting in a potential Pascal Siakam trade, and it’s easy to see why the Raptors could emerge as a very appealing landing spot for Giannis Antetokounmpo in free agency in a couple of offseasons.

If the No. 1 priority for Giannis is winning, and he isn’t too moved by playing in a “big market” or for a team with no state taxes, the Raptors should be high on his list. Plus, I’ve learned over the years that Masai Ujiri is never a general manager to doubt. The Raptors may not seem like a team that makes a ton of sense for him now, but that could change quickly if Barnes emerges as a legit star and if Anunoby proves he can be a dependable offensive player with a bigger role.

If Giannis does indeed test free agency in a couple of summers, it would be surprising if Toronto didn’t at least get a meeting or some consideration.
