Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson is only going to benefit from his experience in the FIBA World Cup.

Jordan Clarkson is an NBA star on the rise and taking part in the FIBA World Cup 2023 will only help him become better as a player. However, the Utah Jazz guard knows getting used to international basketball will not be easy.

After a credible showing against the Karl-Anthony Towns-backed Dominican Republic, the 2021 NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee struggled in their loss to Angola, 80-70. However, Clarkson did produce the numbers. He managed to finish with 21 points, seven assists, and three rebounds. But with no significant local support, Angola proved to be too much for the Philippines.

With Jordan Clarkson undoubtedly the top gun for the Philippines, it comes as no surprise that he was tightly guarded in that game. And this is the scenario that will follow moving forward for Clarkson and the Philippine national squad.

"“It has just been tough, people denying me, doubling me. It is different. I’m trying to make plays for my teammates, get shots, go play within the system,” Clarkson said after the game in a report by Rappler.com. “I’m competing. I’m out here trying to win games.”"

While those words seem common from any player after a loss, the fact is that Clarkson needs to adjust to the international brand of play. Things are different on the global stage and the 46th overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft knows this stint will only make him better.

Jordan Clarkson will only get better

Throughout his NBA career, Clarkson has been improving each year. After the decision to re-sign him to a lucrative contract extension, he’s clearly considered an important piece of the Utah Jazz.

On the floor, JC has shown the typical traits the Philippines has been known for. He is fearless and never gives up but also needs to play wisely.

At any rate, Clarkson is bound to benefit from his stint in the 2023 FIBA World Cup for the Philippines. But before that, gifting the Philippines with a win is what the 6-foot-5 guard has running in his mind.
