Tier 3 – The point guards with star potential

The third point guard tier consists of players that have some star potential but still have some proving to do. This tier is separated for young players who have shown the ability to enter the star tier for point guards.

18. Tyler Herro, Miami Heat

We begin this third tier with Tyler Herro. He’s not naturally a point guard but at least for now, he’s expected to be the starter at the position for the Miami Heat. If they end up making the move for Damian Lillard, that all changes. However, it’s impossible to predict that will happen before the start of the season considering there’s been no movement on trade talks between the Heat and Portland Trail Blazers.

Herro is one of the best offensive young players in the league. He’s also shown the ability to be a good playmaker at times and has improved every year in that department. In each of the last two seasons, Herro has averaged at least 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists per game. He hasn’t played the point guard position full-time yet and I can’t imagine he will this season, but he could start the year at 1 for the Heat.

It’s not ideal but with how the Heat roster stands, it may not be that terrible of an idea.
