Tier 1 – The elite point guards

In our tier 1 NBA point guards, we have the elite class. These point guards have already separated themselves from the rest of the pack at the position. These are the perennial All-Stars or the point guards that have that in their future. These point guards have also reached superstar status in the league or are going to reach that point in the not-too-distant future.

7. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder

There may be some who say they haven’t seen enough from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to warrant him being in tier 1 or in the top 7 of NBA point guards, but I’m officially on the side that is saying he’s there. SGA has the Oklahoma City Thunder on the precipice of making the leap toward being a playoff team in the Western Conference and he is coming off a season in which he finished in the top 5 of scoring.

There are not many players in NBA history who can say they averaged 31 points, six assists, and five rebounds per game on 51 percent shooting from the field over the course of an entire season. SGA can say that, and at just 25 years old, there’s a chance that he can take another step in his development.
