The Los Angeles Lakers look competitive at virtually every position. The only spot on the floor where there is worry would be the shooting guard position.

With Austin Reaves the firm starter for the purple and gold going into the season, the backup job is up for grabs for whoever is willing to fight for it. The leader in the clubhouse right now to take the backup shooting guard spot is Cam Reddish.

Another solid option would be Max Christie who seems to have untapped potential also.
At this moment, with neither player having proven too much at the NBA level, it would be worrisome for the purple and gold to put their faith in Reddish or Christie should Reaves potentially go down with an injury.

In order to fortify the position, it would be prudent to add a veteran to the shooting guard rotation who has been there and done that and who can comfortably step into the role and feel confident.

Having been in the league for over a decade, Will Barton has the potential to be the perfect player to add to the Lakers shooting guard rotation.

A career 11-points-per-game scorer, Barton is capable of playing whatever role is necessary in order for his team to succeed. In his time with Denver, Barton was a double-digit scorer, an above 35 percent three-point shooter, and a key part of a bench rotation that allowed for the starters to get much-needed rest without the level of play falling off dramatically.

With the purple and gold, Barton would offer wonderful depth at the shooting guard position in addition to a veteran voice who has been there and done that in a team that apart from LeBron James is quite a young squad.
