NBA Trade Rumors: Exploring six teams that should make all-in trade offers for Buddy Hield.
In what was probably a surprise to no one, it was reported recently that after contract discussions broke down between the Indiana Pacers and Buddy Hield, the two sides would be seeking a trade together. Considering the Pacers made the big move this offseason to sign Bruce Brown to a rich contract, it’s not surprising that Indiana would decide to move on from Hield.
As the two sides begin to search for a trade, likely before the start of the season, there should be a strong market for one of the NBA’s premier 3-point shooters. Hield is coming off a season in which he averaged 17 points and five rebounds on 43 percent shooting from 3-point range. He’s going to be 31 at the midway point of the season, but there’s no question he still very much has some good years left in the tank.
With the trade talks expected to heat up over the next week or so, we explore six teams that should be willing to make strong offers for Hield.
6 Teams that would greatly benefit from acquiring Buddy Hield
Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets should remain patient in their search for another star to play next to Mikal Bridges (and Cameron Johnson). However, if the price is right, the Nets could be an intriguing landing spot for Buddy Hield. As one of the best shooters in the league, I’d have to imagine that Hield would be a great off-ball fit next to Bridges.
Even though the duo of Bridges and Johnson impressed to close the season with the Nets a year ago, this still feels like a roster that is a difference-maker away from being a true player in the Eastern Conference this season.
The Nets, at least for now, should be considered an intriguing young emerging team in the East. That could change if they add another quality wing. I’m not sure if Hield is the perfect addition to the team, but he may be the best realistic option on the market for the Nets to improve in the short term.
