It should not come as a surprise if the Los Angeles Lakers express interest in Buddy Hield. They’re a team that had been interested in the past and even though the Lakers have a promising shooting guard in Austin Reaves and just signed Gabe Vincent during the offseason, along with re-signin D’Angelo Russell, this is a team that should be pursuing talent. Hield is one of those talents that you acquire and figure out the fit later.

Hield would give the Lakers another quality wing scorer and contributor and would help the Lakers embrace small-ball a bit more with LeBron James at the power forward. Of course, who knows if that’s something Antony Davis would be interested in, but let’s not act as if a lineup of Vincent-Reaves-Hield-LeBron-AD wouldn’t cause headaches for the opposition.

Depending on what the asking price would be for Hield, the Lakers should at least make a call. It’s unlikely that the Lakers are going to make a move for a star in-season. If they can add a player as talented as Hield leading up to the playoffs, it would be a huge win and boost their chances of winning a championship this season.
