The move for Collin Sexton

If the Miami Heat truly wanted to retool their roster in a cost-saving manner, there is a way. But it would be way more costly than the first few possible trade packages that we’ve already discussed. First, this entire deal revolves around the premise that the Heat would be willing to move on from Tyler Herro. And after the offseason of rumors that Herro found himself in, this is something that may end up working out for all parties involved.

If Miami is willing to build a package around Herro, Kyle Lowry’s expiring contract, a future first-round pick, and a second-round pick, I wonder if it would be enough to pry away a package from the Jazz centered around Collin Sexton.

Sexton would effectively solve the Heat’s long-term concerns at the point guard position and fits right in next to Jimmy Butler. Nearly two full years removed from his knee injury, there’s reason to believe that Sexton could be ready to get back to full form. The Heat should bet on that potential.

If the Heat is lucky, this is a package that could get Utah to throw in Kelly OIynyk’s expiring deal, Talen Horton-Tucker’s expiring deal, and an intriguing young wing prospect in Ochai Agbaji.

This is a risky retooling for the Heat, but it might be exactly what they need to turn the page on what ended up being an ugly offseason.
