NBA Trade Rumors: Clippers ‘intend’ on getting deal done for James Harden
NBA Trade Rumors: With NBA Training Camp underway, the LA Clippers are still working and ‘intend’ on getting a deal done for James Harden.
It’s been a long summer for the LA Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and James Harden. However, there are a few signs that suggest that the end of the Harden trade saga could be near.
After initially missing out on Sixers media day, Harden officially reported for camp and has now participated in a couple of team workouts. From all indications, he’s been on his best behavior and his attitude throughout the process with the team has been described as “positive.” That could be due to another shoe that is about to drop.
According to a recent report, Harden still very much wants to be traded to the Clippers and LA is working with the intention of completing a deal for him. The Clippers have been active in trying to meet the Sixers’ reported asking price, which they’ve been unable to do up until now.
That could be a big reason why Harden decided to report to camp and not “make a mess” as it was originally believed he would. You’d have to imagine that Harden believes a trade could be close and doesn’t want to do anything to stand in the way of something getting done between the Clippers and the Sixers.
The James Harden situation is playing out unlike the Damian Lillard situation
To a certain extent, you can probably say that the Miami Heat believed the Damian Lillard situation was going to turn out how it has (at least thus far) for the Clippers and Harden. With virtually no market for Harden, the Sixers and Clippers are attempting to find a middle ground.
If the reports are accurate, that’s simply not something the Blazers afforded the Heat in the Lillard saga. But, at least to a certain extent, it takes two to tango.
Nevertheless, back to the Harden situation, all signs continue to point to something getting done between the Clippers and the Sixers. If it does, the real story revolves around the trade that could possibly happen after the trade.
It would be surprising if there wasn’t another move on the horizon for the Sixers if Harden ends up getting moved. If Philly wants to keep pace with the likes of the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks, it’s something that has to happen.
And we may be close. First, let’s see what ends up happening with Harden. Then it gets real for the Sixers.
