Buddy Hield, Indiana Pacers

Even with word that contract extension negotiations between Buddy Hield and the Indiana Pacers have fallen through, there’s still no guarantee that he’s going to be traded. But if the right offer does come around, I don’t think the Pacers would turn it down. That means in the months leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline, Indiana will likely be open to listening to offers. Assuming that is the case, the New York Knicks should explore what the asking price would be.

As one of the best 3-point shooters in the league, there’s no question that Hield would be a great asset for a contender like the Knicks. Especially considering that it was their lack of 3-point shooting that ended up dooming the Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Miami Heat last season.

Hield would not be the playmaker that the Knicks are likely looking for but he’d be a quality offensive role player to help give this team an added offensive punch heading into the playoffs. Considering the asking price likely wouldn’t be high, the Knicks should at least explore the possibility before the trade deadline.
