Breakout candidate: Quentin Grimes

After taking a step forward during his sophomore season with the New York Knicks, there’s hope that Quentin Grimes is still getting better as a player. He took over the role as the starting shooting guard last season and the expectation is that he’ll continue to take steps forward this year. Entering his third season in the league, Grimes could very well be in line for a breakout season for the Knicks. And as the Knicks look to keep pace with the top of the Eastern Conference, they might need Grimes to have a big season.

Grimes taking a step forward on the offensive end of the floor could help Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, and Julius Randle greatly. Taking some of the offensive burden in the backcourt, specifically, off of Brunson could do wonders for the balance of this team.

If Grimes does end up having a breakout season, it could help the Knicks buy even more time before they make an all-out move for a star. It would also give them the luxury of not having to find added depth to the backcourt.
