Breakout candidate: Brandon Miller

Not much may be expected from the Charlotte Hornets this year but they have a pretty talented roster. And the one player that could change the entire math equation for the team is Brandon Miller. Even though he’s a rookie and you’d have to imagine that there will be a pretty strong learning curve, he is the most talented player on their roster and has the best chance to break out as an All-Star caliber player this season.

Even after being selected with the No. 2 overall pick, Miller is arguably one of the most overlooked rookies heading into the season. You can make the argument that Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson will garner most of the attention from a rookie standpoint this season. But that may be a mistake with how talented Miller is.

Miller is a 6-foot-9 wing that has already proven to be a three-level scorer. If he can find his footing quickly with the Hornets, he’ll have the chance to since he’s the projected starter at the small forward position, he’s a solid breakout candidate for a team that needs to catch a break or two heading into this new era for the franchise.
