In the first edition of our NBA Power Rankings, we explore if the Golden State Warriors dynasty is still alive.
Heading into the start of the 2023-24 NBA regular season, one of the biggest questions revolves around the Golden State Warriors and whether their dynasty is dead or if their championship window is still open. On paper, you’d have to imagine that it’s still alive. They’re returning nearly every key contributor, with the exception of Jordan Poole, and added Chris Paul.
The Warriors operated as a team that still expects to be in the championship picture in the Western Conference. But will that indeed be the case this season? We’ll explore that and several other storylines in our season-opening power rankings as the start of the regular season has finally arrived.
30. Washington Wizards
At least for now, the Washington Wizards have a lot to prove. They’re one of the few teams that recently decided to go all-in on a rebuild. They don’t have as many assets in place as the likes of the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz, or even the Detroit Pistons or San Antonio Spurs, but that doesn’t mean their future isn’t bright.
If Jordan Poole can reemerge as the budding star that he looked like a couple of seasons ago in Golden State, the outlook completely changes for Washington. That’s one of the biggest storylines that revolves around this team heading into the start of the season.
There’s a chance that the Wizards don’t finish the season ranked as the worst team in the league, but they certainly have some work to dig out of this early-season hole.
