NBA Rumors: At least for now, the Philadelphia 76ers aren’t interested in trading Joel Embiid to the New York Knicks.

Even though the Philadelphia 76ers had a pretty good showing in a season-opening loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, they still very much have much to sort out before there could be much excitement surrounding this team. While at the forefront of the team’s “problems” rely around James Harden and his standing trade demand, you can’t help but not think about how this could all impact Joel Embiid.

In fact, that’s what most rival teams around the league are keeping a close eye on. For many opposing teams, the hope is that Embiid grows weary of drama in Philadelphia and that he will get to a point where he demands a trade.

At least thus far, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Embiid remains committed to the Sixers and according to a recent report, Philadelphia has no interest in trading Embiid. It was reported recently that the Knicks are willing to make a strong offer for Embiid. For now, the Sixers aren’t interested in entertaining any offers much.

That should not be a surprise to anyone. For now, the Sixers shouldn’t be entertaining the thought of trading Embiid. Could that happen in the future? Sure. However, it would be dubious for them to make that leap at the moment.

The Philadelphia 76ers need to carefully map out the immediate future

Over the course of the next few months, regardless if the Sixers emerge as contenders in the Eastern Conference or not (with or without James Harden), they must be careful with the steps they take.

The Sixers are in a difficult place right now. They need to carefully navigate this Harden situation by not messing up the relationship with Embiid. It’s not easy but that’s what Daryl Morey was brought in to do.

It’ll be interesting to see how this season continues to unravel for the Sixers. It could get out of hand quickly if they make even one misstep. If that does happen, teams like the New York Knicks will surely be waiting in the wings for a potential Embiid trade.

For now, it doesn’t seem like Embiid is going anywhere. In fact, it’d be surprising if it was even a thought in the Sixers’ front office. We may eventually get to a point where an Embiid trade is likely but now is not the time.
