Exploring NBA teams and players that have gotten off to extremely bad starts to the season.

The 2023-24 NBA regular season is only a week old but there are already several storylines that are beginning to take shape. While it’s easy to cling to the positives, there are many “bad” starts to the year that a few players and teams have gotten off to.

In the Halloween spirit, we explore 11 players and teams that have been frighteningly bad to start the season.

The bad of the 2023-24 NBA season thus far

Miami Heat

It should come as no surprise to see the Miami Heat on this list. Quite frankly, their disappointing start to the season is not that surprising. After missing out on Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal during the offseason, this is the start that many envisioned for the Heat. They’re 1-3 to start the year and there’s an argument to be made that they should be 0-4. Their lone win of the season came in their season opener when they held off the Detroit Pistons, clinging to a one-point victory.

The Heat is already battling injuries and there isn’t a lot to like about this team, at least at the moment, beyond Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, and Jimmy Butler. Even then, that trio isn’t good enough to make much regular-season noise – at least they haven’t been able to prove it yet.
