NBA Trade Rumors: 8 Logical deadline targets for Sixers after Harden deal
Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers
In what would be viewed as perhaps the ultimate pipe dream trade target for the Philadelphia 76ers in-season, Donovan Mitchell would make a lot of sense. Mitchell has one year left on his contract after this season but after he declined to sign a contract extension this past summer, it put the pressure on the Cleveland Cavaliers to prove that they could take the next step forward as a team.
So far, they’ve struggled out of the gate this season. The Cavs don’t look as good as they were last season and they’re 1-3 through the first four games of the season. This could just be a delayed start but if the Cavs don’t turn things around fairly quickly, the whispers are going to grow over the next couple of months.
It would be extremely surprising if Mitchell found himself on the trade block this season but perhaps the perfect storm all comes together for a team like the Sixers. There would be some concerns about the fit of Mitchell and Tyrese Maxey but I’d have to imagine that players that talented would be able to figure it out.
