Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat
In what could be viewed as one of the bigger pipe dreams for the Philadelphia 76ers in their search for a partner next to Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler would be an intriguing candidate. While the Miami Heat has shown no signs that they’d willing to trade Jimmy, there is a possible path toward the perfect storm happening in this situation. It all begins with the Heat continuing to struggle this season.
Through the first two weeks of the season, the Heat is just 3-4. If Miami isn’t able to bounce back and has an embarrassing end to their season, it’s not that outlandish to suggest that they’d at least have to think about making big changes. And if that does happen, those changes likely begin with trading Jimmy.
After this season, Jimmy has just one guaranteed year left on his contract before he could potentially opt out of his deal and test free agency. At that point, perhaps the Heat looks to trade him to a contender to pivot toward a complete rebuild around Bam Adebayo. If that happens, the Sixers could be the perfect landing spot for Jimmy.
