Richaun Holmes, Dallas Mavericks
Over the last two seasons, Richaun Holmes has struggled to find his footing with both the Sacramento Kings and now Dallas Mavericks. Through the first couple of weeks of the season, Holmes has only managed to appear in one game (in which he played seven minutes) for the Mavs. Unless something drastic happens, it’s safe to say that if Holmes wants to find playing time, it’ll have to come on a different team.
And maybe that ends up happening. One potential possibility that has arisen for Holmes is a potential trade to the LA Clippers. They’re looking for a backup big and Holmes is a proven player. He just hasn’t been given the opportunity to truly flourish recently. After a breakout season in 2020-21, Holmes has struggled to find consistency. And that’s played a big part in not getting the minutes that perhaps he thinks he should be getting.
I’m not sure if the Clippers are the ideal spot for Holmes or if even they could afford his contract; finding a path toward a deal could be difficult. But if they’re looking for an experienced and proven backup big, Holmes would be a good candidate.
