Collin Sexton, Utah Jazz
During the 2020-21 season, it appeared as if Collin Sexton was going to be a star-level talent for a very long time. However, the next few years of his career haven’t exactly gone as planned for Sexton. Since suffering a knee injury in 2021, he hasn’t seemed to bounce back to the level he was during his third season in the league. He was eventually traded to the Utah Jazz (as part of the Donovan Mitchell deal) and while he’s shown flashes of his potential, he still hasn’t consistently been that All-Star talent that he was early on in his career.
Sexton has struggled so much over the past couple of seasons that it might be at the point where it may be in the best interest of him to find a fresh start. The fact that he’s still 24 years old should give hope that he can still return to form in the right situation. For better or worse, the Jazz may not be that situation for him.
As the Jazz continues to search for foundational pieces, I would be surprised if they view Sexton in that light. With just two years remaining on his contract after this season, I firmly believe the trade whispers around Sexton are not that far off.
