James Wiseman, Detroit Pistons

As the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, there was a belief that James Wiseman was going to greatly extend the Golden State Warriors’ championship window. Interestingly enough, the Warriors’ championship window was extended, but almost in spite of the miss that Wiseman ended up being. After just three seasons (one that Wiseman missed entirely due to injury), the Warriors decided to throw in the towel on the experiment.

Golden State traded Wiseman to the Detroit Pistons in the hope that a fresh start was going to do him well. However, after a half-season with the Pistons last year and through the first few weeks of the season this year, it appears that Wiseman may need another fresh start. Buried in the depth chart, it’s hard to see how Wiseman is going to effectively resurrect his career with the Pistons.

Wiseman is averaging just four points and three rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the field. Perhaps the biggest concern is the fact that he’s only played in four games this season and under 10 minutes per appearance.
