Zach LaVine may not want to play for the New York Knicks

If the recent reports are any indication, it doesn’t appear as if Zach LaVine’s camp has much, if any, interest in being traded to the New York Knicks. And that has to matter considering what you’d be giving up for LaVine in a potential trade. The Knicks don’t want to part ways with tangible assets to get a player who doesn’t really want to play for the franchise. Especially considering he’s under contract for the foreseeable future.

While we may be in the wave of trading star players away from the preferred destinations, as we saw most recently with Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell, I’m not sure if that would make much sense for the Chicago Bulls and LaVine. If LaVine doesn’t want to play for the Knicks, this is not something New York is going to force.

The Knicks have done a great job of being patient in targeting their next star via trade. And it may be in their best interest to continue to be patient. LaVine will be discussed but he may ultimately be another player they end up passing up on.
