One underrated player that every NBA team should be thankful to have on their roster in 2023-24.

With the Thanksgiving season here, it’s only natural to begin to look back at the year that was and recognize just how much there is to be grateful for. For NBA teams specifically, this is equally the case. Even though there are a few franchises that perhaps haven’t had the success they would’ve liked over the past few seasons, there is still something that they could be grateful for.

Specifically, we’ll go team by team to identify one underrated player currently on their roster that each franchise should be thankful for.

Atlanta Hawks

Dejounte Murray

On the surface, many would consider Trae Young as the player the Atlanta Hawks should be thankful for considering he gives the franchise legitimacy. However, considering how inconsistent he’s been this season, there’s one other player that has helped cover for him – Dejounte Murray.

Murray has been a saving grace for the Hawks this year and he’s the biggest reason they’re not in a huge hole through the first few weeks this season.

Boston Celtics

Derrick White

The Boston Celtics have been one of the best teams in the league through the first few weeks of the season. And while a big reason why is their All-Star trio of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis, an underrated MVP for the team is Derrick White. Dating back to last year’s postseason run, White has been a huge boost to the Celtics’ supporting cast.

If the Celtics are going to win the NBA Championship this season, White is going to be a big part of it. What he’s able to do on both ends of the floor is increasingly overlooked by many outsiders. But not for the Celtics. They know how valuable he’s been to the team recently.
