NBA Trade Rumor No. 6: NY Knicks interested in KAT

The New York Knicks are one of the teams heading into the trade season that should be aggressive. Even though they are clearly one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference, this is very much a team that remains one big trade away from being a true championship contender. Just a few weeks ago, it seemed like the Knicks were focusing on a potential pursuit of Joel Embiid.

However, with the Philadelphia 76ers success to start the season, there’s a chance that dream is dead. Recently, it was reported (again) that the Knicks were keeping a close eye on Karl-Anthony Towns’ situation with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Would they pivot to Towns?

Prediction: I think there’s a very real scenario where the New York Knicks completely bail on the Joel Embiid pipe dream and pivot toward targeting another superstar. That could very well be Karl-Anthony Towns if the Wolves believe they can continue playing at a high level without him. In the end, this seems like one of those rumors that will be tabled until the offseason at best.
