NBA Trade Rumor No. 7: Lakers not open to trading Austin Reaves

If there’s one thing that has become apparent for the Los Angeles Lakers, it’s the fact that they desperately need a third star next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Heading into this season, the hope was that Austin Reaves was ready to make that level of leap this year. However, that hasn’t happened thus far.

Naturally, when it was reported that Zach LaVine could hit the trade block, the Lakers quickly emerged as a landing spot that would make a ton of sense. Though, if the Lakers do land LaVine, it won’t be for Reaves. At this point, Reaves is considered an untouchable for the team. The question is, can the Lakers drastically improve the roster if they don’t include Reaves in a possible star trade offer?

Prediction: I’m not all that surprised that the Lakers hold Reaves in such high regard. After all, without his emergence last season, there’s a very real chance that LeBron James decides to leave after missing the playoffs multiple years in a row. Reaves gives the Lakers something to look forward to beyond LeBron and AD. I firmly believe the Lakers when they’re hesitant to include Reaves in a deal for LaVine, or any other player for that matter.
