3 Reasons Ja Morant will not be able to save the Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies are reaching the point where not even the return of Ja Morant may be enough to salvage the season.

Team morale may be at an all-time low

In the NBA, there's nothing that breaks a team's morale more than losing. That's what we might be beginning to see with the Memphis Grizzlies. I'm not sure that is any more evident than what Marcus Smart told the team recently during a heated game. Smart essentially told the team that the way they were playing was embarrassing. The fact that the newcomer is the most vocal isn't the best look for a team that was supposed to be a contender this season.

To add injury to insult, it's not just that the Grizzlies are losing that's concerning, it's also how they're losing. Aside from Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies don't have any other consistent contributors. Even then, Bane is averaging career lows when it comes to shooting efficiency and JJJ is also having one of the least efficient seasons of his career thus far.

Right now, the Grizzlies are arguably the worst offensive team in the league and a below-average defensive team. As good as Ja Morant is, it's hard to imagine one player changing all of that.
