NBA Mock Draft 15.0: Big name tumbles due to injury; Grizzlies trade up for defensive big
30. Boston Celtics - Kevin McCullar Jr., G, Kansas
In what could end up being remembered as one of the steals of the first round, the Boston Celtics, likely fresh off winning an NBA Championship, could be in a position to take an experienced and productive player such as Kevin McCullar Jr. Even though there are many NBA Draft scouts bullish on McCullar as he prepares to make the jump to the NBA, I can't help but wonder how landing on a team like the Celtics could be an ideal scenario for a prospect who may be closer to contributing to an NBA team than many are willing to admit.
As a potential two-way contributor at the next level, there are many reasons why a team like the Celtics could fall in love with a prospect like McCullar late in the first round. He can do a little of everything and could emerge as an ideal role player for Boston down the line.
If McCullar can prove that his senior season at Kansas wasn't just a flash in the pan, there's no reason to think that he can't be a really strong role player at the next level. And the Celtics could be beneficiaries of that.
