7. Philadelphia 76ers
Even though the Philadelphia 76ers haven't been winning at their previous pace, you have to credit where credit is due. This still looks like a team that is going to finish in the top 4 of the conference. And at the beginning of the season, many wouldn't have thought that. Nevertheless, there's a chance that the Sixers can emerge as a dark horse championship contender in the Eastern Conference. But they'll likely need to make an addition or two at the NBA trade deadline.
The Sixers have the assets to pull off such a move and it will just hinge on the right fit becoming available over the next couple of months. With how well Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid have been this season, there's really nothing stopping the Sixers from deciding to go all-in. I anticipate they'll at the very least make an effort.
But the next few weeks could very well decide that. If the Sixers can remain hot during the month of December, this is a team that is going to be active at the trade deadline. And if they land the right piece, it could be enough to spark them toward a deep playoff run.
