2. Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs

Stats: 18.8 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 43 FG%

Despite entering the season with plenty of hype, it's almost as if Victor Wembanyama has surpassed all of those lofty expectations. He's been as good as advertised, and possibly better. However, over the past couple of weeks, there have been some rough patches for one of the Rookie of the Year candidates. We've seen a bit more inefficiency from Wemby recently, but that's not entirely all that surprising.

This is what comes with young players. Even though Wemby is viewed as somewhat of a generational player, the struggles were going to come at some point during his rookie season. And we've seen that from time to time over the last couple of weeks. Nevertheless, Wemby's "poor" games are still better than most.

Wemby is still very much embedded in the NBA's Rookie of the Year race and it would take a huge fall off or even an injury to see him fall out of the top 2. For this week, there was one player that managed to drop him off the top spot.
