Expendable difference-maker: Dyson Daniels

At least on paper, you can make the argument that the New Orleans Pelicans have one of the most talented and deepest rosters in the Western Conference. But with all the talent that they have, it's unrealistic for them to be able to keep everyone around moving forward. One player whose future they have to make a big decision on is Dyson Daniels. The Pelicans have two years before they have to make a decision on his extension but it's hard to envision how his impact with the team is going to grow all that much if he's never given an expanded role.

Daniels has played in every game so far this season (even starting a few of them with CJ McCollum out), but there's a chance his role with the team goes down and now up with Jose Alvarado playing his way back into the swing of things after a season kept him out the first few weeks of the season.

As the Pelicans continue to find the right spot for Daniels, I can't help but think about how expendable he may end up being for a team that is trying to build a team to win now with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.
