Portland Trail Blazers
Expendable difference-maker: Malcolm Brogdon
The Portland Trail Blazers entered the season in the early stages of a rebuild. While there were two odd veterans on their roster that didn't exactly fit, there's one that is more expendable than the other. Malcolm Brogdon seems like an odd fit for a team that has somewhat of a luxury in the backcourt. The Blazers entered the season with a priority of developing their guards. Brogdon on the roster doesn't really make sense or fall in line with that priority.
That leads me to believe that Brogdon, more so than Jerami Grant, is the expendable piece that the Blazers end up moving at the NBA Trade Deadline. The thing is, Brogdon could be viewed as a valuable piece for a contender. Not for a team like the Blazers. Portland should be prioritizing young development.
Brogdon is likely going to be traded at the trade deadline, barring an unforeseen injury. When it comes to expendable players on the roster, this is an easy decision for the Blazers.
