Expendable difference-maker: Seth Curry

The Dallas Mavericks look like a completely different team at the start of this season compared to how they finished up last year. And that's a good thing. They look like a team with the potential to finish in the top 4 of the Western Conference standings with an outside shot to emerge as a dark horse contender. However, if there's one player that the Mavs could live without at the moment, it's Seth Curry.

Curry has a team option for next season but it's hard to imagine that the Mavs are going to exercise that if his role with the team doesn't grow or expand over the next couple of months. Quite frankly, his option for next season may be more valuable as a possible trade piece. Or perhaps they could that small chip as part of a bigger move at this year's deadline.

Either way, Curry could viewed as an expendable piece for the Mavs. He's played in just 16 games this season (heading into the weekend) and is averaging less than 12 minutes per contest in those games. Still an effective 3-point shooter, perhaps he'd offer more value to a team with a need in the backcourt.
