NBA Trade Deadline target: Malcolm Brogdon, Portland Trail Blazers
I don't believe there would be much pushback with the belief that the Los Angeles Lakers need to add a third star-level talent to their roster if they want to compete for a championship this season. Through the first month of the season, that's become pretty clear. However, I'm not sure if that third star talent is going to emerge before the trade deadline. Especially considering it's being reported that the Lakers don't have much interest in pursuing a deal for Zach LaVine.
For as good as LaVine may be on paper and how good of a fit that he may theoretically be next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis , I'm not sure LaVine makes them a favorite in the Western Conference. He may not be the final piece that some believe he could be for a team like the Lakers.
If you're making that type of deal, that almost hs to be the case considering what it would cost the Lakers. But perhaps Los Angeles could shift their attention to Malcolm Brogdon. He could have a similar type of impact without the huge financial implications beyond this season and would cost much less.
