Toronto Raptors
NBA Trade Deadline target: Draft picks
Through the first month of the season, the fact that the Toronto Raptors aren't in the top 8 in the Eastern Conference standings is quite alarming. With the amount of talent that the Raptors have on their roster, they should be able to finish in the top half of the East standings. However, that hasn't been the case through the first few weeks of the season. And if this trend continues, it could lead to a retooling of the roster sooner rather than later.
If the Raptors can't make a big move up the East standings over the next month or so, big changes are likely coming. And the Raptors are likely going to have to take a bit of a step back in order to take one forward. Heading into the deadline, the Raptors should value the future over winning in the present. That means taking chances on young players and/or draft picks.
Without a clear young target on the open market, it may be in the best interest of the Raptors to value draft picks right now. It may not be a popular belief, but the Raptors would be better off selling the likes of Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby for draft capital.
