Dallas vs Miami: The Final Countdown

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Could you believe that the NBA Finals start Tuesday? Me niether, but the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat made it. It’s quite interesting to see how both teams made it. Miami swamped through the East with strong series against Philadelphia, Boston, and then Chicago. Dallas, the team alot of people expected to lose in round one, defeated Portland, then swept the Lakers in a shocking series. After LA, Dallas took down a young Oklahoma City squad. I have a couple questions here: – Can Miami stop the Kidd/Chandler combo? For one, Jason Kidd had a little bit of a [...]

Can We Get Back Seattle and Vancouver?

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a pefect world?  We could just add another set of NBA teams and life would be good. Rumors, hatred, feelings, emotions, revelations. That’s what alot of fans had when Oklahoma City and Memphis played a game 7. The fans? Vancouver and Seattle. Both cities lost their team to Memphis and Oklahoma City, and many couldn’t help but feel some level of pain, or even remorse for not supporting those cities. For Vancouver, it was almost a failure from the start. From the Bryant Reeves pick, to the Steve Francis’ draft look, to the terrible trades and picks that followed, [...]

Lockout Ideas

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the NFL player assiociation essentally “losing” in court, the NBA decided it was the best time to throw out a revised deal for the players assiociation. Perfect timing. What was included in this new deal? A 45 million dollar cap AND non-guarenteed contracts. Let me be the first to predict that deal will be declined. Anywho, this got me wondering, what do I want to see changed in the NBA? What are some of the things I want the NBA to do? So, I sat and picked the best 4 ideas of mine that the NBA should consider. Here [...]

NBA Draft Lottery Viewing

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Dallas, Oklahoma City, Miami and Chicago all have some business to attend to, but this past Tuesday, the NBA held it’s annual draft lottery. This year, the draft is consider to be on the weakest draft since the 2006 draft, which had 5 good players in the first round. While I think this draft is deep in terms of role players, the potential superstars don’t stand out. The only two players who impress are Duke’s Kyrie Irving and Arizona’s Derrick Williams. Irving in his 13 games, seemed to impressed drawing comparisons to Chris Paul. Williams led a average Arizona team [...]

Chicago vs Miami: The Series That Can Change It All

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Chicago vs Miami, South Beach vs The Windy City, the team we were all designed to hate vs the team with the kid were all supposed to love. The best player in the NBA vs the 2011 MVP. That alone should get you in your seat to watch potentially 7 great games between two teams fighting for a spot in the NBA finals. If not, let me assist you. Allow me to extend you this olive branch of hyperbole: If you thought any series before this one meant anything:  You got it all wrong. Take away your thought of Celtics/Pistons [...]

2010-11 Lakers Postmortem

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA, Uncontested Shots | COMMENTS: None Yet

If you’re a Lakers hater, then you’ve earned the right to laugh all you want at the demise of this year’s edition of the Los Angeles Lakers. If you’re a Lakers fan, take a deep breath. Next, watch a few of these remaining playoff games and forget about the Lakers for a couple weeks. Before you start messing around with trade machines and looking up player contracts, let the loss marinate a little bit before you start playing pocket GM. That’s because there are a number of reasons as to why nobody should be surprised that the Lakers were [...]

Westbrook and Durant: Clamity in Oklahoma City?

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

While we stayed inside watching the regular season, we all assumed Oklahoma City vs Los Angeles would be our Western Conference Final matchup. We saw the series before, but we saw a young Oklahoma team, led by young humble players take the eventual champions to 6 games. It would have also signaled a changing of the guard. Oklahoma City and Kevin Durant, the upstarts, knocking off Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. Even with Los Angeles going through problems, the bigger problems potentially lie in Oklahoma City. Did I mention it involves it’s two stars? From Alonzo Mourning [...]

Looking Back At The Boston Celtics

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Boston Celtics are currently down two games to none to the Miami Heat. The Los Angeles Lakers are down three games to none to the Dallas Mavericks. While everyone is stunned by Dallas taking it to the Lakers, shouldn’t we be looking back at Boston? While many people would be ready to rip though the Lakers and prepare them for Dwight Howard or Chris Paul’s arrival in a couple seasons, there’s no fall back for Boston. There’s no superstar player who could be linked to Boston for the future, and we don’t even know if Doc Rivers will [...]

The Signing of James Jones May Have Been Riley’s Shrewdest Move

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA, Uncontested Shots | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

When we look back on what Pat Riley did in the Summer of ’08 years from now, we’ll likely remember how Riles had the ability to retain Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem and sign LeBron James and Chris Bosh. We’ll even remember how Riley convinced Mike Miller to take a little less money to play for a ring. Heck, we may even remember how he gave Joel Anthony a five-year extension and sign veteran big men like Juwan Howard and Zydrunas Ilgauskas and give them a chance at the championship ring that has eluded them throughout their respective careers. [...]
