In the latest edition of our NBA power rankings, we take a look at the Spurs and Cavaliers putting the rest of the NBA on alert

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Late last week, we saw something more than an epic performance by Kyrie Irving. It was more than just an impressive come-from-behind victory from the Cleveland Cavaliers, too.

What we witnessed between the Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs was something more than just an intriguing matchup in March. It was a foreshadowing of what’s to come in late-May, early-June. Ironically, not necessarily from the Spurs.

While we know what this team can do in the NBA playoffs, as we’ve seen for the past two seasons, I’m not sure if they simply have the fire power — or motivation — to make it back to a third straight NBA Finals. It’s unprecedented for this team, and very much unlikely.

Although the San Antonio Spurs proved to the rest of the NBA just how hard it’s going to be to beat this Cleveland Cavaliers squad for four games in May and June. The simple fact that the Cavs have two players that can beat you single-handily on any given night is going to troublesome enough.

Even when it looked like the Cavs were defeated in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter, they figured out a way to pull the victory out — in amazing fashion.

The Cleveland Cavaliers may not be a finished product just yet, but they’re one heck of a project.

Here are this week’s NBA power rankings, which feature the Spurs and Cavs near the top of the list. As expected.
