NBA Rumors: The Houston Rockets reportedly believe that they’re in the driver’s seat to acquire Carmelo Anthony or Paul George next

The Houston Rockets wasted little time to begin the NBA Free Agency festivities. Days before the official start of free agency, the Rockets have traded for Chris Paul, who opting in to the final year of his contract.

Instead of hitting the free agent market, Pau decided to do the Clippers a solid and helped facilitate a trade hat would land him in Houston, where he wanted to be.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Rockets will send Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, a future first-round pick and possibly other salary fillers to the Clippers in exchange for Chris Paul.

"[via The Vertical]The Rockets will send the Clippers guards Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams, forwards Sam Dekker and Montrezl Harrell, the non-guaranteed deals of DeAndre Liggins, Tim Quarterman and Ryan Kelly, and a 2018 first-round pick (protected Nos. 1-3) for Paul, league sources told The Vertical. The Rockets paid several million in cash to acquire Quarterman (Portland), Kelly (Atlanta) and Liggins (Dallas) to complete the deal with Los Angeles."

As if this big of a move wasn’t enough, the Houston Rockets don’t appear done. In fact, they’re reportedly pushing hard to land either Paul George or Carmelo Anthony.

In fact, the Rockets reportedly “think” they’re getting one of the two.

On SportsCenter, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst stated that the Rockets’ package for George would be centered around Eric Gordon and other pieces. Though, it’s unknown if that would be enough to appease the Indiana Pacers in their attempt to get the best package in exchange for the disgruntled George.
