According to reports, the 25-year-old Slovenian guard is in advanced discussions to leave his European team, BC Unicaja, to sign to an NBA team. Dragic holds a buyout for the NBA until Oct. 5 with Unicaja Malaga, but is expected to make his decision prior to that deadline.

Shams Charania of Real GM.com tweeted out the news Sunday that Dragic is on the verge of reaching a buyout agreement with his current team.

Per ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Phoenix Suns are the clear frontrunner to sign Dragic away from his European team in Spanish ACB. He also stated that Dragic will likely land a two-year NBA deal, potentially later this week.

It was reported earlier this offseason that the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Orlando Magic and Dallas Mavericks were in the running for Dragic, but ultimately fell to the hands of the Suns.

During a seven game run during this year’s FIBA World Cup, Dragic averaged 12.9 points, four rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He averaged 11 points per game during his season last year with Unicaja.
