Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh says he has ‘no hard feelings’ towards former teammate LeBron James

More from Miami Heat

In somewhat of a clarification over a previous statement, Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh told reporters Thursday that he has ‘no hard feelings’ towards LeBron James after he decided to spurn Miami earlier this summer.

A report surfaced earlier this week that Bosh had not spoken to LeBron since he decided to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers back in July.

Here was Bosh’s original remarks via ESPN:

Bosh made the revelation as he was asked about the Heat’s game against the Cavaliers on Saturday when Bosh and Dwyane Wade will take the court for the first time against James, who decided to break up Miami’s “Big Three” by returning to his native Ohio this offseason. Bosh and Wade, who were also free agents, chose to return to Miami.

Asked by reporters if he had talked to his former teammate since James’ decision to leave the Heat, Bosh answered a succinct, “No.”

Bosh went on to clarify those thoughts after practice today in anticipation of the Miami Heat’s preseason game against the Cavaliers.

"[via ESPN]“There’s no hard feelings or anything,” Bosh said after the Miami Heat practiced Thursday in advance of their preseason game against the Cavs on Saturday. “If we’re both trying to win, he’s against us, and that’s a matter of fact.”…“My time is backwards and everything, but we talked,” Bosh said. “I want people to understand I’m a competitor, and he’s on the other team. I think he’d understand that, and I understand that, and that’s how it is now.”"

This sounds like the classic “I don’t have hard feelings towards him, but I can’t act like everything’s OK.”

Since the beginning, it was always Dwyane Wade and LeBron James — Bosh was almost a third wheel. Wade and James were friends, and good ones, from before they even decided to join forced in 2010. Bosh simply enjoyed the ride.

Sure, he developed a relationship but you could tell it wasn’t on the same level as Wade-Bron’s. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Yet, we’re supposed to be surprised when two former teammates haven’t talked? Especially when the wounds are still fresh?

Then again, it does make for good theater. Come Saturday — when the Miami Heat and Cavaliers meet during a preseason game in Brazil — or on Christmas Day.
