Nikola Vucevic signed an extension with Orlando for $53 million over four years. At the age of 24, Vucevic has already become an elite rebounder, and an improved scorer and defender. The Magic believe in his abilities and progression, and decided to lock him up immediately so the focus can remain on his development.

Vucevic is a vital piece to Orlando’s youth movement and future success, and would absolutely have been offered a max deal had he reached restricted free agency. For Orlando, this move not only saves them money, but they keep a player with All-Star potential at a respectable price.

Ruling: Friendly deal, good timing.
